Famous relative

No, the relative is not Abe Lincoln but my 2nd great grand uncle the photographer Alexander Gardner. Born in Paisley in 1821 a socialist and idealist he ended up in the States working with Brady he became a significant figure in the History of American Photography famous for his realistic pictures of the American Civil War and later as a portrait photographer , taking pics of Walt Whitman and this last portrait of Abe Lincoln.A truly great photographer. I have been immersed in my family tree recently and as you can imagine I was more than chuffed to find a connection no matter how distant in the history of photography.
