Buzzing Round The Buzzard

The pair of young buzzards are still mewing away petulantly, both were perched at the top of the tall leylandii hedge this morning. Lots of insects were buzzing around them.

Couldn't resist photographing the willow emerald damselfly in extras. It was perched right next to the willow that overhangs the lake. These damsels lay their eggs under the bark of willows and other trees. The  larvae drop into the water when they hatch. They have a prolarva stage so that if they don't land in the water they can wriggle through vegetation to reach it where they immediately moult into an aquatic larva. I'm going to look out for the characteristic marks their egg laying makes on the willow bark.
