Kempton steam museum

A Morgan car gang trip to the Kempton steam museum this morning to view in action the largest triple-expansion stream engines in the world. They were used to pump water from West London reservoirs into the capital for most of the C20th having been built between 1926-9. 19 million gallons were pumped every day and together with the filtration systems prevented Cholera infection for the capital. Electric pumps replaced them in 1980 and they are now in a charitable trust. Impressive building as well, I went to the top level which wasn't bad for someone who gets vertigo.

Came home around a wet M25 when the heavens opened lunchtime.
