The Karoo

This drive through the Karoo on the way back to the Cape was honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole trip (after the elephants). It was surreal. The old windmills tipping in the dusty wind, the tumbleweeds flying through the scrubby bush, and the sunrise over the distant mountains... Hours and hours between towns. I wish I'd gotten better photos for you, though.
