Home Again
After all the holdups yesterday we expected more today as we battled our way down the notorious M6 and M5
We had planned to go to The Photography Show at the NEC in Birmingham en route but when people I had wanted to particularly see pulled out a few weeks ago, it seemed pointless.
Again leaving early we got a few miles into our journey before the first jam.
We later heard on traffic reports that this holdup caused by a lorry going into a ditch, had got considerably worse as the traffic built up.
Luckily the M6/M5 merge was quiet but as we entered the West Country we joined the thousands of cars per hour streaming into the area.
An accident on the northbound carriageway had created a huge tailback too
We have convinced ourselves that travelling overnight is the best policy.
The trip down wasn’t as bad as I expected so we’ve had plenty of time to empty the van and go to fetch the birds who both seem happy to be home again
(Lucy is looking very dishevelled as she has spent her holiday nesting )
