it’s all Greek to me

We walk into the new Italian Restaurant in the town to book a table for later.  Anniemay, having watched every episode of Inspector Montalbano (including the Young Montalbano) at least twice - and scored countless points on her Duo Lingo Italian course - decides she’d like to put all this learning to good use by making the booking in Italian.

A friendly face pops up from behind the bar.

Anniemay, in Italian: “can I book a table for 8 please?”   

Waiter, in English:  “I don’t know - I’m Greek”.
