Lindisfarne Castle
This weekend we were having a little break on Holy Island, Lindisfarne, just a few miles south of the border between Scotland and England. Holy Island is a tidal island, so when the tide is low you are able to drive across from the mainland. It is one of the many holy sites associated with the Celtic saints - in this case St Aidan and St Cuthbert in particular. As well as all the sites associated with the saints, there is also a very atmospheric castle stuck on top of a crag, which is a really dominant site from many places in the island.
Unlike much of the UK, there was no snow here this weekend. However the wind more than made up for it - we all ended up in I don't know how many layers trying to keep it out! It was absolutely wild!
