Interment

I tried this caper last year. Dig up, sort out and reinter the best in deeper trenches than their growing bed. Without a cooling house they just sprout prematurely so a deeper layer of obtuse dry soil might just keep them into winter’s months.

Needless to say the forecast rain did not arrive. I rotavated dust and then trenched dust, finding a fine harvest of stone, the gadders buzzing round me until I realised with ear protectors on at least I didn’t have to hear them.
