After six weeks or so, the charger for my electric car has arrived. It’s not the one I had ordered originally, because that’s not available in the foreseeable future. So the electrician got another one for me, and sent two of his men to install it today.

They took the entire day, because once they were here, they discovered that they didn’t have the right drill, and later they found out they didn’t have all the necessary materials to connect the charger to our fuse box, so they needed to go backwards and forwards to get them (making this installation a lot more expensive than planned).

The cable holder needs to be ordered separately, which they didn’t do. So I don’t have one.

And they only gave me the manual when they had finished everything else, saying „now you need to download this app, and get a customer account, and then we will show you how to operate your new device“.
„Okay“, I said. But the app mentioned  in the manual doesn’t exist in the app store. The other apps from the same company asked for so much information and different passwords that I realized: it would take me a lot more than five minutes to get them set up. I sent the men home and said, I‘ll get this done by myself, in my own time, and call their boss for help if I need it.

Two hours later, I‘ve got everything connected, installed and set up; my phone can access the charger and control it remotely - at least that’s what the app tells me it is doing. But it doesn’t work like that. I tell the app „stop charging the car“, the app answers „The charging process has stopped“ - while the charger still charges the car.

For now, the only way I can actually start charging is by plugging the cable in. And the only way to stop is by pulling it out.
Oh well. At least I have a charger now.
