Expedition!

What started off as a short walk up the road to take a few photos ended as an Arctic expedition as we braved the wind blown snow and drifts between Hood Green and Stainborough Fold Farm. Once long ago I'd fancied a house at the end of this lane but in the end we decided that it might prove too much of a challenge to get to work in weather like this. I think the only way out today was to walk or go on horseback! We'd just passed a man with a small tractor and digger who was clearing the lane, apparently he'd dug it all out yesterday and this was the state of it again today!

The deep snow of the fields was nothing compared to this challenge which became worse as we approached the farm. At least the Barnsley snow plough team has managed to move onto clearing the very minor roads in our district - good for them - they must all be looking forward to a well earned rest.
