CREEK LIFE

I had such a lovely and restorative walk this afternoon, and this blip shows many of the reasons why. You may not see much detail, especially if you're looking on a phone or tablet (try looking in big) but, bottom to top, there are lapwings, cormorant, curlew, harbour seals, black-headed gulls, grey seals, redshank, six herons and a crow.

I'm a bit worried because my usual walk - on the other side of the creek from the official footpath - has sprouted lots of markings of the sort painted on the ground by surveyors, with numbered posts and different colours seemingly marking out some sort of corners. The land is owned by one of the big chemical corporations, but it will be so sad if they fence it off and develop it alongside all the lagoons where lots of nature lives and breeds.

Liz Truss... words fail me.
