on my walk today i saw this gentleman sitting (top right) on a wall surrounding the castle mount, i thought he was painting, but when i had a look i saw he had been drawing. 

i asked him what he was doing and why….. ..:
the photo on the left is a bit of the remains of the castle’s bailey wall……it was unearthed in the last few days and he was making a plan of it (bottom right) for posterity…..
quite a lot of the wall’s remains is under a nearby church building and all the way under the market and in Bailey Street.

this week there is a dig happening at the remains of the castle…it was really nice to learn something new  of the town’s history…..if i have the energy i might try to go to the top of the castle hill to see what’s happening there…
