Photobomber

It was a nice day today, so I did some gardening this morning and sat reading a book in the sun this afternoon. I thought I'd do some deadheading and took my camera to get a photo at the same time, but the photobomber won the day. My laptop arrived this afternoon, I'll leave it to the weekend to unpack fully and sort out (again not happy how JL packs electronic goods, just the HP box in a plastic bag with no packing material to cushion it). 

A long expected cabinet reshuffle and most moves could have been predicted. I'm glad Raab went as Foreign Secretary, but his move to Justice Secretary and retaining the Deputy PM role is odd - the Justice Secretary oversees the judiciary of the UK including its independence from Govt including the PM/Deputy PM i.e. overseeing himself.

The no. of patients in hospital has been over 8,000 for the last week and daily deaths were 201 today. Infections have risen by a third in North America over the last week, with the US alone reporting 142,059 new cases and 1,934 deaths yesterday. For the week to 12/9, the UK had the 2nd highest number of daily cases in the World. SAGE modelling warns of a potential rise in daily hospital admissions from 1,000 to 2,000-7,000 within weeks. A WHO special envoy on coronavirus say he likes what the UK is doing with learning to live with the virus, but saying that the Govt must be quick to move from Plan A to Plan B if required. He also criticised the giving of boosters and first jabs to children over 12. Small businesses have now received over £1bn in insurance payouts after the FCA won a High Court ruling against insurers (re business interruption insurance and lockdowns) in Jan.
