street photography

There are ever fewer flowers within Samuel-walking-distance. I knew I was going into DC so I assumed I'd see something interesting for street photography. Clearly I liked the colors of the bus and the man walking by.

Actually, I did see a little wildflower this morning. Then I saw droplets on a nearby leaf and thought I could relocate them. Just in time I realized that might not be the sort of leaf I should touch.

Today was not the first day since mid-March 2020 that I dressed like an adult. Today was not the first day since mid-March 2020 that I rode the metro. Today was the first day I've been indoors for something other than the bathroom. I got my badge and a new computer. I tried to take a nice picture using the same trick I used on the author (got her to say something wicked). The first picture was great but the blue background was off. The second one I looked wasted. The third one I thought, "f it" and if you saw the picture and I told you that, you would nod, because that indeed looks like what I'm thinking.

It was interesting how stressed everyone initially was. When I entered I was warned sternly that I was entering government property and asked if I had any explosives on me. It must have taken me a minute to answer. Everything I had went into bins and through the machine and one of the guards saluted me when I made it through the metal detector. Then I began sweet-talking and making jokes and by the time I left, with a new computer and a shiny new badge, we were all smiling and laughing.
