The only negative thing about me?

I’m no fan of needles, and I get a bit wobbly every time I give blood. Yet I keep going back…

There’s guilt in there somewhere - just my luck to have a rare and highly-demanded blood type.

And the clever folk at NHS Blood and Transplant put their call centre in Northern Ireland, and they charm me into coming back every time.

Plus it’s just such a positive thing to do. I’d love to be able to say “the only negative thing about me is my blood group”. Certainly, like all volunteering, there can be as much in it for the giver as the receiver. It’s a random act of kindness - and we could use a few more of those don’t you think?

"No one has ever become poor by giving.”
(Anne Frank).
