Diary of an Edinburgher

Pub visit

I wanted to keep up my steps, after yesterday’s accomplishments (I know they’re no much, but it’s all relative), so we set off south. I then decided to pop in to a friend’s mum, whom we visited a month or so ago and we want to invite her back. It was easier to pop in, rather than ringing her. All organised for next month.

We walked on and went into Ashley Ainsley hospital grounds, and came out at the lane leading to Morningside. We passed a friend’s flat, but she wasn’t in, so we went on to the pub. It’s a famous pub, very quirky and we ususally take visitors there. But the owners are famously, er, rather stoneyfaced and unfriendly. But the place was busy with mostly older folk (probably regulars) having lunch. Archie was very good and sat and waited patiently while I had my half of Paolozzi lager. He was only up on the seat for the photo - I didn’t want the grumpy owner to see him and tell us off.

We walked up the street - I had intended getting the bus back, but as Archie had waited so nicely in the pub, I knew he’d rather walk home. (6,498 steps).

JR went for a haircut, and then we both walked down to visit Christine and Dougal. Archie was not invited, as he’s not keen on crazed, energetic, frenetic puppies.

We had a couple of gins, and a very delicious spread with all our favourite things. And then the mochis came out!! What a treat. We caught up with Christine’s news. Dougal is such a live wire! He LOVES people’s hair, and jumps up on the sofa for easy access. What a boy! (Extra)

JR is pressing on with episode 6 of ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’, but I gave up after the first five minutes of episode one, and I’m watching another programme about 9/11 on my iPad and earpods.

Loving the new door set up. It opens the room up so much more.
