Zuke

I remember a bumper sticker in Maine: Zukes not Nukes. This giant has been drying out in the sun over the last weeks.

Planted fennel, chicory and brussel plants today. It would be pointless without irrigation. Rain hovering in the three-day forecast like a bloody mirage.

Finally took a glass door to get new glass after one skin of the double glazing was smashed in a violent squall nearly a year ago.

As I propped the door up at the glass family’s place I said, ‘Do you want a name, money, any good faith contractual information?’’

He replied drolly, ‘We have your door. A couple of days should do it. ‘

Hilarity all round.

Sometimes I effing hate being a foreigner.

Even if I say so myself I did a nice boarding up job on the doorway. More to keep mosquitoes out than intruders. Probably will cost more for the boarding than the new glass.

It was one of those days and thirty degrees of sticky heat with it. Mustn’t grumble.
