Farewell #2
And all over again we do Son 1.
Left Edinburgh early to get on the road for Aberdeen. Had a serious case of FOMO seeing all the Tour de Britain cycle posts yesterday which literally passed the end of my road whilst I was in Glasgow. Had a wee google and blow me down if it wasn’t leaving Stonehaven just as we were reaching it. How exciting! We veered off the A90 abandoned the car and literally five minutes later they passed us. To be fair, it was just a big mass of skinny blokes on bikes with lots of sUVs following but the cowbells and the crowd made the six second fly by fun fun fun.
Drove up to Aberdeen to find ads new place for his final year was as lovely as a student flat could be ( despite the overriding unloved smell) five minutes walk away from Uni and Cakes and Shakes and the Bobbin on his doorstep. Perfect.
Missed his entire year last year what with Covid, operations and not being able to drive so got to meet his flatmates Danai and Aurora for the first time. Great to see him set up for this tough final year ahead.
Went to the Bobbin for some very shit nachos, I am a connoisseur, these were bad and cold!
Looking on the app and woohoo whilst we were eating bad nachos, our bike chums had cycled nearly 200k over the hills and we decided to go clap them in down by the sea. Again, huge excitement big crowds and WHOOOSH there they went. Some speed when you’re up close… just hope they weren’t heading to the Bobbin to recover.
Said our goodbyes, won’t be for long as back down soon to celebrate his 21st .
And with that, perhaps the most expensive weekend of my life is over.
Cuppa tea and the excellent Vigil required to recuperate.
