Cornwall at last!
Yes we’ve arrived. Only 2 days late.
Set off on Sunday with an overnight stop at Melksham, after having a detour to Lacock Abbey.
( will back Blip later)
First stop in Cornwall was in Hayle for a Philp’s pasty. Delicious. First of many I think.
We ate it sat in the car by the harbour with this view of the viaduct.
The first viaduct was designed by Brunel and the 38 spans were constructed of timber, in 1852.
It was replaced by The Great Western Railway in 1886 using stone piers and iron girders.
Major repair works were done in 2014.
A major landmark of the town.
Extra is for our daughter-in -law.
Drove through Marazion on the way to the bungalow. Never seen it so busy. The car park was packed. People everywhere, and they say it has quietened down!
Lovely to see Carol and Graham again who as usual had a wonderful welcome pack waiting for us, along with a large vase of flowers.
Had a tour round the garden to see the beautiful new Cornish hedge which replaces an old leylandi one.
For those who don’t know what a Cornish hedge is like. It is a double drystone wall filled with earth, and planted on top with grass and other wild plants. Gradually nature takes over, and in Spring many are full of primroses.
Excellent for wild life.
It was dull when we arrived but warm at 18C.
Started raining as we finished unloading the car.
Mr C found driving OK but is still struggling walking.
Hope it will improve soon.
