L'Abattoir and the Biting Cold

More snow! Finally got to see snowy Brussels, after I thought I'd missed it at Christmas. Mom and me headed to l'Abattoir (translation - slaughterhouse), a huge market in town, known for being cheap and good quality. There's meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, clothes, household goods etc. And LOTS OF IT!
The stalls are mostly owned by Romanians, Turks, Egyptians, Polish and others, making it a very interesting blend of ethnicities and races. Sort of like Brussels as a whole, really.
The place was snowed in, very crazy winds blowing snow everywhere (see the photo!) but it was still really lively. I took a series of photos, but this was the only one that stood out on its own, making it suitable for blip. That's the thing with street photography, its much harder to capture the whole story, atmosphere or concept, with one single photo. Respect goes to those who achieve it. I like the idea of telling a story with a series of 9-10 good photos. Unfortunately, blip ain't the place for that!

This break, I'm armed with the 35mm and I'm pretty sure I'll be using it almost exclusively. Not necessarily the best lens for street, I found myself desiring the 50mm and 90mm several times today. It makes me wonder what prime I'd buy first. I've recently fallen in love with the 35mm focal length, but I previously had a crush on 85-90mm... Luckily, still got a year with Photosoc to keep pondering, before I have to face reality and buy my own stuff...

EDIT: got myself a silver camera, little red balloon and gold crown! Yay 100th blip!
