Great Design Creeps Up On You

The Meijer Scupture Park has works by Rodin, Moore, and Oldenburg. But, one of my favorites is this 7.8 foot bronze spider by Louise Bourgeois.

Louise was honored with a major retrospective at New York's Museum of Modern Art. She is best known for her series of massive spider structures that have been installed around the world. Some are 35-feet tall.

This work has such great design. It has the strength and lightness of the spiders' spinning, qualified by light, married to the ground. It is new in every season.
