Postcard From Castleford

We went to visit our son today…. I had emptied a load of storage crates which he wanted, so we took them to his house.

We then went out for lunch - walking to a pub called ‘The Boat’ which is next to the River Aire…this was a gentle 2 mile stroll along the river bank.

I had a Yorkshire Wrap… basically a large Yorkshire pudding, flattened, filled with thick juicy roast beef and rolled up like a croissant. Served with a jug of gravy and a bowl of chips…it was gorgeous!!

We walked back again (it only took about 45 mins each way) and stopped off to buy ‘pudding’ in the town…a box of ice creams, which we opened when we reached his house….

After eating one of those we played a new board game with him - it is called ‘Ticket To Ride’ and was quite simple to play - unlike some of his other games!!

Being a new walk there were plenty of blip opportunities so I made a ‘postcard’ showing the Allison flour mill, a view across the weir to the mill, a sunken narrowboat (a long way from its home of Stratford upon Avon) and a derelict barge grounded near the weir (I don’t know if it was placed like this or arrived accidentally).
