Spending a lot of money
After months of not seeing people we’re in the position of expecting a second guest on the same week so there was a second bout of cleaning and changing beds to be done! Mr PHL took Phin to the park so I could get on with prepping dinner as we had an appointment with the kitchen planner at 4. The dinner I planned was beef Wellington and dauphinois potatoes.I also decided to make some GF shortbread and brownies for lunch with friends on Sunday so it was a hectic few hours.
Got it all done with moments to spare before Susan and Scoobie arrived at 3. Nice cup of tea and we headed off to our appointment. I thought we had chosen everything but it took a couple of hours to finalise all the last minute details and work out the delivery dates. Turns out a couple of cabinets may not be available until mid December but we thought we could work with it. Many thousand pounds lighter we left just after 6.
Driving home we had a few thoughts that starting a kitchen makeover at the end of November Might not be the most sensible. The job the builder is currently working in is running late and could put back out start date and I’m also not going to be around for 6 weeks due to the charity stint I’ll be doing so it all seems to be too complicated and fraught with potential delays. So we’re going to talk to the builder on Monday and hopefully push everything back till early 2022. I don’t think we’ll have an issue with the kitchen suppliers but worst case we may need to hire some kind of storage unit. That’s next weeks problem.
Home to finish dinner - we didn’t eat till around 8 but it was all pretty tasty. We had some nice wine and followed the main course with cheese and biscuits. Watched the last 15 minutes of Last night of the Proms before watching the final couple of games of the tennis. It got quite exciting!
Didn’t head for bed till after midnight and realised I hadn’t blipped but as the only photo I took was of our WiFi code for Susan, that’s what you get today (even if I am posting it on Sunday!).
