Quod oculus meus videt

Lions Den Drift

More snow overnight, leaving all of the roads covered and slippy, something I noticed almost immediately as I tried to turn onto the estate road and slid across the carriageway (and I've got a 4x4)!

So, with snow mode engaged, I headed towards the village of Hammerwich, where I had noted a great lattice work of field hedges, fences and trees that would look great with a snowy backdrop. And there were many good shots to be made. I decided to walk along a footpath from the A5 to the village and then return via a lane. I took about a hundred shots and new I would have the pleasure of having to choose from some good images, when I got home.

It hadn't been easy going with the drifting snow resulting in me having to walk thigh deep through the snow where it had drifted. I was retunring along a lane called Lions Den, when I came across the local farmer with his faithful collie. I'd noticed a Ford Focus abandoned in the middle of the road a bit further on. THe farmer had come out to check, not on the Ford, but on a pick up further on. Well when I got to the pick up all thoughts of a tasteful pastoral winter scene were abandoned in favour of this.

To put it in context that drift in the foreground was well above my waist as I stood there taking the photograph.
