I went up to the Goritz hut - base camp for Monte Perdido - at 2200m still over 1000m below the summit. Where I enjoyed a Fanta from the bar. The funniest thing is that camping is allowed but tents can only be erected from 8pm to 8am! Being a Saturday and reasonable weather, competition for camp spots was in full flow at 3.30pm - it would’ve been fun to see the area transform into a complete refugee camp at 8pm, just a small matter of the 3hr hike back down.
