Sydney or Bust 12

For those who don't know, I am walking to Sydney from my home in Blackheath, a distance of 112 kilometres. I am doing it in stages of two to three hours or so at a time, such that after 12 stages I now find myself within 23 kilometres (i.e. 14 miles) of the Sydney GPO.

Last time I did a stage of the trek, a variety of complications, mostly computer hassles, prevented me from posting the pictures of my walk from Toongabble to Parramatta. I have started a fresh Pbase gallery, to carry pictures of the trek from now on:

Today I did the next stage, in which I explore a planned route of Parramatta before moving on, down the harbour. Most people (and even most Ausralians) don't realise that, with the exception of some important early locations in Tasmania, ALMOST all of this country's oldest remaining, identifiable colonial sites are to be found in Parramatta. Today, I explored a FEW of them, offering commentary and some research information. Also I saw a few of the developments going on in Australia's Second City, for today in 2013. Hope you enjoy the ride:

Oh before I forget ... this old cannon was up at the Boer War memorial in Parramatta Park (one of several locations which didn't make the cut). The place is like a time machine and so I couldn't help trying to create something which might help convey a sense of ... falling back ... back into history. See LARGE
