We will always remember where we were when it happened, as we were in France. We were staying at our usual house and heading back in the car that way one day when suddenly the music station we were listening to was interrupted by news. We could only make out a little of what was going on - our French was not up to following the dramatic, confused voices very successfully.

No Internet of course. We phoned our daughter and she told us what she knew. Then we had to resort to French TV - not easy. In the morning we went into Apt to get an English newspaper - not a one to be had.

Somehow it all seemed that much more scary because we were away from home and had only a little knowledge of what had happened. We will certainly remember.
