Emulsion #2
Following on from yesterday's blip. These are the three emulsions I made from the flower petals. After crushing the petals with a little added water the juice is strained through a muslin cloth to remove any little bits of plant material. The Nasturtiums and Coreopsis produced the colours you might have guessed but the Japanese Anemone - which is mauve and pink - produced a rich brown liquid.
Here the colours look quite intense because they are concentrated. The next step is to apply the emulsion to sheets of strong watercolour paper. At that stage the colours will be much more diluted. More tomorrow.
