Battle of the Minds -Charity Fundraiser

Tonight we attended the "Battle of the Minds" Charity Fundraiser for the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. This is a picture is of Beth Houghton the Executive Director of The Free Clinic at the event which was held at the historical Renaissance Vinoy Resort. The Clinic provides food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless and health care for the under-served and uninsured. Several agencies have spawned off of this wonderful clinic that has served our city for over 40 years. Only 10 Percent of the 5.2 million budget is funded by the government, the rest is provided from the community. We are truly blessed with a community of caring people.

After a silent auction and a live auction to raise funds for the clinic, 65 tables of 10 people competed in the 40 question Trivia game. The questions ranged from history, science, politics and entertainment. We had 15 seconds to agree on the multiple choice questions and enter in the answer with a electronic hand held device. Immediately we saw on large screens the percentage of the tables answers for each multiple choice. The competition was fierce as there were some battling to retain their championship status from the year before. I guess, since we have not won each of the years that we have been a sponsor, our table did not try hard enough. Because we came in 62 out of 65! Maybe next year....
