Flowers on the hearth.
A big thankyou to all of you who commented on my tribute to Matthew yesterday. I was very touched to read them and see all the hearts.
My Facebook page was inundated, by the friends that had known him so well, alongside family and others we know.
We had a lovely day spent at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire, not far from us by car.
It is such a beautifully peaceful place in lovely grounds.
After which we went to Barton Marina for some lunch, and a walk around one of the small pools.
We didn’t need to use our umbrellas, despite warnings of thundery downpours.
Home again for tea.
The flowers arrived yesterday from the family in Bristol.
We also had a long chat with our other son on the phone last night.
Sharing memories and raising a glass to his brother and our son.
A good day.
Thankful for lovely memories that never fade with time. Ever present and eternal.
I’m including a link to a blog I wrote for several years after Matt’s death alongside Chris, (our Pastoral Minister) It explains how we came to have the lovely summerhouse at the top of the garden.
