Late start!

Unfortunately both my grandsons tested positive for Covid just before the start of their new schools and have had to delay starting. Blake has been able to start today. He is moving to his little sister's school much to her delight, as you can see. Amitee is in her second year having been home schooled for much of the first! She loves school and was keen to get back with her friends and although she now has to wear specs she has returned happily. Poor Dylan, who was due to start at secondary school, has to wait until Monday to join his new classmates. He has slight cerebral palsy which affects his limbs making him just a bit different to others of his age and has a helper for certain activities so it's a pity he's had to start at a different time to the others. Hopefully he won't be alone with a late start. They are all happy resilient children so will do fine but children often don't like to be different.
I've been busy making the most of what might be the last days of summer here, tidying the garden and staring to take cuttings to over winter in the greenhouse. Not much sewing activity but I'm sure there will soon be plenty of dark damp days ahead to forge ahead with those plans.
Mum has been particularly happy this last week or so and has been meeting more people where was she lives as they emerge from sheltering in their flats. They are opening up the dining room next week so she can eat with others at lunch time, their meals are provided daily, and get to eat food served directly to a plate and not out of a cardboard box which has travelled  around the building! Hopefully a much nicer experience and she will enjoy the company and across table chatter! A man came to service her mobility scooter and given it a clean bill of health which has also cheered her. She had been dubious to go out on it as it was making a few noises but really just needed lubricating. It's so good to hear her positive about things.
Tomorrow the Tour of Britain passes our road so the Les and Phil are hosting a neighbourhood BBQ for us all to enjoy and watch the riders. I'm guessing that will be an all day convivial affair! He's hoping for sunshine although it's not forecast.
