Venturing further

London for the weekend. I used to take this easily in my stride but I’m apprehensive these days.

I love, but find difficult, the grand exhibitions in the museums and art galleries. I find the hardest is The Barbican but The British Museum is also quite challenging. They simply don’t have enough benches where you can pause and ease those aging vertebrae.

“Nero”. I really wanted to visit and I managed it.

It’s an excellent fresh look at this emperor’s life and reputation. Not fussy or cluttered, they’ve assembled some outstanding exhibits, including a number of loans of frescoes and art from the Naples Archaeological Museum (most notably treasures from Herculaneum and Pompeii).

Tired and a bit achey, I’m having a rest before I try out a new (to us) Thai restaurant and then the highlight - “Rigoletto “, final rehearsal, at the Royal Opera House.

Normality ? Perhaps we’re starting to return, but it’s far from safe yet……….
