Place in the sun

The self seeded sunflower I mentioned the other day is now blooming in the front garden. However I notice that under the main flower there are half a dozen smaller flower heads waiting to rise up and bloom. See extra of some of them.

The main stem is very thick and this is the first year I’ve had a sunflower so well developed. So I’ve never before seen this display of a younger generation emerging.
