Family
About now I should have been sitting in our favourite restaurant in Lanzarote, eating the best tuna salad and suckling pig in the whole of Europe (the bits I've been to anyway), overlooking the sea and watching the ferries
I'm not. Unfortunately the hotel we booked doesn't reopen until Sunday and rather than (a) sit on the steps for three days or (b) go somewhere we don't know in a town we don't know in a post (ish) Covid era we decided to can it and wait until next year.
It was the right decision in terms of stress levels (tests, Himself's anxiety, general exhaustion) but that doesn't mean I don't wish I was there.
Instead we had a good night out with BOTH (together, in the same place, at the same time) offspring, celebrating their various successes of the past few weeks.
The date clashed with my WI meeting but as I'd said in February I wasn't going to be there, and family opportunities don't come up much at the moment I hope they'll understand. I helped organise it and I'm standing down as President in a couple of months anyway so it might be a good opportunity for them to talk about my successor without me there.
It's raining now too. Just as my time off really starts!
