The love of the common people

Day 6 Took us to Bakewell
We have fond memories of Bakewell. We stopped here after a very, very traumatic visit with some of Si's family (four times removed). We had had a night in a hotel; (interview), we had slept on the floor of a house (TRAUMA), and camped. The Gran gave us money for a "nice night".
And it was in Buxton and Bakewell we had made our way too.
Roger the sat nav was pissing us around today. Apparently, we were 2 miles from Bakewell, when he decided to change direction and send us over to see some of the nice Peaks, they talk about in the Geography travel books.
We gave up with him and followed our noses to the smell of the luscious Bakewell Tart and Pudding.
It is such a pretty wee place, it's such a shame that there are so many Hoomans there. Loads of them; but at least some of them were wearing masks.
We headed on down the road to Buxton, home of the water, as my boss commented.
We were in the Queens head Hotel - Courtyard buildings have been converted into lovely compact rooms. access cards for the Pub and our room. Wayhay!
We ate Greek in the evening, with Yannis in Ikathos, and that was all very lovely. Then there was England Football Yay, and then surprisingly at 10 pm a band arrived and played some very soulful music.
A very lovely end to a busy day.
