Hythe Pier railway - there is only "one" of these.
Our last day of holiday making and it included a visit to Southampton where we used the Hythe ferry to cross the water to Hythe. The ferry tied up to the Hythe Pier, opened in 1881, and 700 yards long. Now a grade 2 listed structure. On the pier is an electric railway, constructed in 1922, 2 feet gauge and propelled by a 1917 electric loco. Quite an experience.
Just across the bay, the extra shows a more modern form of transport/holiday accommodation, the cruise liner Sky Princess. Built in 2019 and capable of carrying 3660 passengers.
