Monastery of Agios Nikolaus

Today I went on a small tour to three monasteries, two of which are still working with the third holding a few collectibles and being a place for children to visit. The second monastery was my favourite and it dated back to the 13C. It was very peaceful and the small church was fascinating with all its silver offerings. Also in both monasteries there were lots of ostrich eggs as offerings. In the old monastery the young (30) monk was showing locals how to make prayer bracelets - he’s well integrated in the local community apparently. We also went to Chora again for a walk.
I had a swim when I got back, but it was so windy! I’ve extended my stay by two days, changed rooms and despairing at the lack of decent, affordable Airbnb’s when I get back.
Dinner was at a different, recommended taverna with a few different offerings - I had fried saganaki with slightly caramelised walnuts and pork stew. Both very good.
