Amaryllis

Someone gave me this amaryllis at Christmas. It had two stems. One grew very tall very quickly and started to flower just as I went away on holiday. I missed the best of it. It was still looking beautiful, with three gorgeous flowers on the day I got back. I was going to photograph it but the next day I was cold, put the fire on and fell asleep. Unfortunately the amaryllis was too close to the fire and I killed it - oops, so sad!

I have been hoping the second stem would flower. It hasn't grown very tall but this week two flowers have appeared, the third bud hasn't opened yet. Thought I had better blip it before anything happened!

I wanted a picture of the two flowers but I struggled to get the angle right and in the end I decided I preferred a close crop. I got close with the original composition and then just gave it a slight crop and lighten post processing.

I have a photo from this day last year when I was in Leeds at Kirkstall Abbey. It was a backblip from before I joined. If you are interested please click the thumbnail on the right.
