Living my dream

Chick-Blip

I intended to blip a seriously arty-farty photo of hens, but this cheeky girl made me laugh out loud and so the other shots were gazumped, except for the more staid extra.

I have six hens. They are a mixture of Hi-lines and Brown Shavers which I keep for their egg-laying reliability. They are just getting back into the groove after their winter slow-down and are laying three a day at the moment.

Bean and I each eat one egg a day on average. My portion includes baking. So there are spares for bartering.

I exchange half a dozen eggs a week for unlimited walks on the lifestyle block down the road where Bean runs and runs - and where quite a few blips are taken. Other barters are less regular and more spontaneous.
