Scammonden Reservoir.

I've looked down on Scammonden Reservoir from many different angles be it from my bike or from the car, but until today I'd never actually been for a walk around it.

It's easy to be put off by how close the reservoir is to the M62 but it actually is a little haven of peace...particularly today when the chilly drizzle had put everybody else off!!

The path meanders around the water, through tunnels and up and down slopes. It's fascinating to think that during the construction of the reservoir the village of Deadhead was submerged and many buildings were demolished.

Scammonden now holds 7.8 billion litres of water which would keep me going for millions of years! :-P
