A tad dry...

The South Para River is looking a bit thin, perhaps its been on a diet. This is not the sight we want to see. Adelaide suffers from the lack of water at the best of times, being the driest city in the driest state, in the driest inhabited continent (Antarctica is too cold for the sun to heat up the oceans or melt the ice, so it will not evaporate and therefore no rain). This rather sad looking river in the even sadder attempt at an acceptable image (not happy, but this is all I could manage for today), is a vital part of our State's survival. Hard to believe, but this 48 km long river is responsible for providing most of the water used by Adelaide's domestic supply in the Northern Adelaide area - that's my area. This is the catchment area near Williamstown which is just 10 km up the road from my front door.

The good news is that the main catchment area is at 32%, so all is well, except when you consider that this part of the river feeds that main catchment. This is why we will not be grizzling too much about the winter rains this year.
