Hazelnut spring growth
The pink tentacles are a very tiny growth, about a couple mm across, on our Harry Lauder's Walking Stick shrub, also known as a contorted hazelnut. I am assuming this must be the female part that becomes pollinated and produces a hazelnut. The tree is covered in catkins which produce the pollen.
