First Day Back

Some years ago there was a series of international sculpture symposia in the area where artists created pieces out of local granite for public display. They are scattered in communities across the area and are generally quite noticeable when you come across them. I pass this one every day on my way to and from work, and it is one of my favorites. It is I Want to Ride a Cloud by Narihiro Uemura.

I parked next to the sculpture when picking up some take out after work today. It was the first day of school and somehow I felt this sort of captured my internal mood about the whole experience. I will have to remind myself to nurture that inner cloud when things feel a bit out of control.
