Watching for the train.
Contrary to our fears, we did get a breakfast today, and it was very tasty. It was good to meet our hosts at last.
One of the reasons for our trip west was to see N’s brother and his wife. To meet, I picked out a pub in Exton on the estuary of the River Exe. C and R live in the centre of Exeter, and they chose to take the train out of the city. The service is just one an hour, and the line runs alongside the estuary. Cliff here is checking whether the train is on its way. They had to hail it to make it stop for them.
We had a glass of bubbly with our lunch to celebrate the occasion today of our 59th wedding anniversary. Cliff was best man at our wedding, all those years ago. September 1st was a scorching hot day in 1962, not so today.
