The Adams family
The marsh mallow is in full bloom and the island has a fare share of it along the marshes. This home was built many years ago by one of the first families to settle there. It was a store owned by the Adam's family. The last of them to live there was a granddaughter and her husband. A sweet old lady in her early 90's when she passed away about 25 years ago if I remember correctly. A home in the marsh as you can see. The new owner a single older man had it raised as the tide got in during Hurricane Isabel in 2003. A storm I will never forget.
We visited my mother today and took her a mess of crabs to pick for her famous crab cakes. We also did some fence repair and weeding on the island. So very hot.
Thoughts and prayers for all impacted by Hurricane Ida and for those in Afghanistan.
