Back to the future
In the car driving down Strider spoke enthusiastically about his return to Kent to pick up year two of his history studies. The way he talked left you with a strong sense of a man with a plan and, more importantly, a vision. I firmly believe you should be able to imagine your future and he is not short of imagination. His passion made parting easier; you feel you can let go of your children a little more easily when they have a course in mind and are so obviously happy with it.
This shot was taken in The Lady Luck, a wonderful Canterbury pub that does some excellent vegan offers (in my case a fab chilli dog with chunky chips). Just as well, I think I need feeding up these days if this shot is typical. Maybe I’ll stop trying to lose weight now.
His new accommodation is better than last year and he should have some flatmates by the end of the week. Hope that works out well. Student life is so much better if you are with the right people (by which I mean right for you not right in a normative sense). The site manager is a woman called Sam who was gushy and enthusiastic and very welcoming. A fellow student called TJ helped us hoof the bags up stairs. All very cheerful, unlike the weather which was distinctly grey and occasionally damp
You can walk into the city in about twenty minutes so we got some steps in before and after lunch. Picked up a couple more books - am working my way through the Booker long list and have now started on The Fortune Men by Nadifa Mohamed. TSM threw a strop in Tiny Tim’s Tea Room as they showed a distinct lack of enthusiasm for her perfectly reasonable request for a London Fog, but the day was otherwise full of cheer.
Good journeys there and back today. Getting familiar with Canterbury now. They have a good looking festival in October which we might go down for.
Good day,
