Vikings!

My friend J took me to this exhibition today at the National Museum of Scotland. My photo doesn't really do this installation of a Viking boat justice, but I decided to use it anyway. I hope you can get the idea of it - rivets suspended on threads to form a 3D image. I learned that Vikings did not spend all their time raiding and invading - most of the time they were peaceful farming people. They were amazing travellers and there were exhibits from distant parts of the world such as India which had been discovered in Viking settlements. And it's a myth that they wore helmets with horns - although the exhibition shop was selling them!
