Coffee tutorial....lesson 3
Good evening students...are your pencils sharpened and ready for note taking?
So...the coffee cherries have been picked and put through the pulper, leaving the parchment. Remember what that is? Excellent, yes it’s the little nut like object that contains 2 coffee beans.
The parchment was left soaking in water last night and the main photo is what it looked like this afternoon....not very appetising eh?
This was tipped onto a wire rack and then washed...and washed....and washed to rid it of the slimy substance I mentioned yesterday (thank heavens we’re not in drought and there’s plenty of water in the tanks).
The extras show the washing and what the parchment looks like before washing. The rack will now be left to sun dry, which depending on the weather could take 2-3 weeks.
This was an earlier than usual pick, there’s a lot of coffee on the trees but the vast majority is still green.
Well done class, you’ve been very attentive, time for a coffee.
