The Kiss
The main purpose of our trip to Edinburgh today was to visit the SJ Peploe exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art. This is a very comprehensive showing of Peploe's work and shows the full range of his paintings including stil lifes, landscapes of France and Scotland and portraits. Maybe because I like landscape photography I was particularly impressed by some of the depictions of Iona and the South of France. This exhibition which runs until the early summer is the second in a series on the scottish Colourists ; the final one next year will focus on JD Fergusson.
The blip today however is of a very recognisable piece of art-- Rodin's "The Kiss" which is currently on loan from Tate Britain and is on display in The National Gallery.
