Herdwick

This is a 'Herdwick' (so I am told), commonly found on the Cumbrian fells. They have a reputation for being tough and very hardy. When first born, the lambs are black.

We did a gentle 10 mile walk today around Derwent Water. After the rigours of yesterday's 5.5 hour hike on the high fells, we opted for an easier day. It was a sensible decision, given the snowy conditions.

We saw lots of Herdwick on our walk. This one came right up to me which was a surprise and a delight!
